Laser Hair Removal

What type of laser is used for hair removal

Our clinic uses the most advanced laser on the market. The Light Sheer Duet by Lumenis is an 800nm pulsed diode laser that utilizes a revolutionary vacuum assisted handpiece that obviates the need for gel or local anesthetic.

What surfaces of the body are best treated with laser hair removal?

Though any surface of the body can be treated, the most common areas are the back, face, legs, and underarms.

How long does the treatment take?

The Light Sheer Duet reduces treatment time by 75%. The handpiece is capable of treating a larger surface area then most lasers. For example, the time it takes to treat both legs is approximately 15-20 minutes.

Who is a candidate for laser hair removal?

Previous lasers could not be used on all skin types or hair colors. The Light Sheer Duet can be used on all Fitzpatrick skin types, tanned skin, and lighter hair color. It can also be used to treat leg veins, benign pigmented lesions, and Pseudofolliculitis Barbae, also known as “razor bumps”.

Is there any down time associated with treatment?

There is virtually no down time or recovery associated with laser hair removal.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments may vary depending on the location to be treated, hair color, and skin color. In general, four to six treatments are usually required for lighter skin color and six to eight treatments for darker skin. Be sure to discuss with your healthcare provider what you can expect.
